SWAYO ("we", "us") operates the website swayo.co.za and the SWAYO platform, which connects South African brands with content creators. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
Information we collect
- Account details — name, email address, phone number, and social media handles you provide when you join.
- Creator programme data — content submissions (links to posts you publish on your own social accounts), view counts, earnings, and payout history.
- Payment details — bank account information needed to pay creators. Stored encrypted and visible only to authorised payout staff.
- Social platform data — if you choose to connect a TikTok or Instagram account, we access only the profile and video performance metrics needed to verify views and calculate earnings, with your explicit consent.
- Technical data — basic usage and device information to keep the service secure and working.
How we use it
- To run creator programmes: matching creators with brands, reviewing submissions, verifying views, and calculating earnings.
- To pay creators and keep the financial records the law requires.
- To let brands run approved creator content as advertising, where the creator has granted that permission on the relevant platform.
- To communicate service updates, briefs, and payout notifications.
What we don't do
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not post to your social accounts.
- We do not access social data beyond what you explicitly authorise.
Sharing
Creator profile information (public handles, follower counts, and performance on SWAYO programmes) is visible to brands using the platform's Discovery feed. Payment and contact details are never shared with brands. We use trusted service providers (hosting, email, payments) under agreements that protect your information.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may withdraw consent for social account connections at any time. Contact us at hello@swayo.co.za.
Data retention
We keep account and payout records for as long as your account is active and thereafter as long as South African tax and financial law requires. Content links remain associated with the programmes they were submitted to.
